MEET SUPRIYA

Transformational Speaker, Coach & Author of an unconventional book “40 seconds”

Your past has no right to sabotage your future.

I was brought up in a very small town in northern India. I currently live in Germany with my loving husband and an adorable son. Though I got my education from a small school in a remote area, it taught me a very important lesson that one should believe in oneself no matter what. I was loved and admired by teachers and friends for being a fearless and brave girl who stood tall against all odds in her life. Once a CEO of an MBA aspirants center came to my college to talk about higher education & the impact of MBA. I met him after the event to discuss few things in detail. After talking to me, given my background, he recommended me to focus on Tier 2 MBA colleges. As per his experience, he felt getting into a top Tier college without a solid background was almost impossible. He told me that he did not want to disappoint me but wanted me to be more practical. It took her a few years but I fought hard to get into one of India’s most prestigious MBA institutes (IIM Kozhikode). After few years I got to know that the person who recommended me to focus on Tier 2 colleges had closed his business as it didn’t do well. He might have been practical in his suggestion basis his experience, but great things only happen when you are bit crazy, passionate & resilient. I always believe that people will have different opinion about you & probably right because they only see you from the outside & in certain moments of your life. No one, absolutely no one knows you better than you do. Whatever you think about yourself is what makes you or breaks you. So believe in yourself & make history.

Sometimes, I was brushed aside and blown away by the circumstances in life but each and every time, I gathered myself and rebuilt myself into a stronger version of myself. Resilience is the skill that is my prized possession and I have an experience of more than three decades in it.

Life has tested me on resilience several times on different occasions. I was bed ridden for months when I got an interview call from IIM. All I wanted was to be able to sit, so that I could give my interview and participate in group discussions. On the day of interview, I sat on the chair for three hours while participating fully and hiding the pain/discomfort behind my confident smile in front of interviewers. I got my admission into the college, but within few weeks my backbone started behaving the old way and it pinned me to bed yet again. Some batch mates of mine started associating my name with the hospital as I used to visit every other day and even mocked that I could make a project report on the hospital. I sobbed alone but I didn’t let it affect my resilience as I knew I was more than somebody’s opinion. As I evolved, I have forgiven them as mocking me did not describe me, but their pathetic mindset which prompted them to make fun of somebody’s misery.

After completing my MBA, I joined a Maharatna Organization where I got to learn about the training and speaking in true aspects. In less than a month, I found myself speaking about innovation and other managerial topics in front of more than 200 people. I honed my public speaking skills there and I am grateful to my seniors who nurtured me, challenged me to get the best out of me. During my tenure with the organization of more than 10 years in the field of learning and development, I have designed plethora of training programs, conducted more than 200 programs across India, touched more than 20,000 lives and attended /conducted major training events. I have also delivered training programs in schools, colleges and corporates in India and abroad. Some topics which I enjoyed a lot were Solving Business Problem by using Creativity Tools,

How to instill good habits in business & life?, The power of positive thoughts, Building team to enhance performance, Why we do what we do?, planning for the future etc.

Life again tested my resilience when I was forced to quit my training field. Because of my profession, I had to speak for long hours which I enjoyed for 10 years, but it did impact my vocal cords. In 2018, my throat condition deteriorated to an extent that I lost my normal voice for more than 6 months and the doctor ended up suggesting that I go for surgery and change my profession. I thought about it the whole night and next day I changed the doctor! No one can derail you if your heart overlaps with your passion.

I resigned from my government job which offered me safety & security. It sent shock waves in my family when they got to know about it. A ship is safe at the harbor, but that’s not what it is made for. You need to take calculated risks & follow your passion if you want to get what you have never achieved before. You need to do things which you have never done before. I was quite amazed at myself when I walked on Fire in Florida, USA under the guidance of Tony Robbins. Sometimes, few events in your life although very small, make a large impact in shaping who you will be. This was one such event which made me think & strengthen my self-belief. Post my marriage & after being a mother I gained significant weight & never thought I would get back into good shape. But my renewed power of self-belief helped me transform & lose 15 kg in no time. Such small battle wins prepare you for the eventual war & glory thereafter.
